Saya is the new collection of ceiling lights designed by Gio Minelli and Marco Fossati. This project takes us on a journey between the east and the west, where the aestheticism and memory of faraway cultures combine with the ancient Venetian tradition of glass blown in a cage. The glass is blown directly inside the brushed metal cage. The metal wires are inserted into the molten glass creating a striated pattern. The slightly inflated glass gives rise to subtly rounded forms. The shape of the Saya pendant is inspired by a large dewdrop which falls and runs downwards, along all of the metal wires which, by closing up, stop its fall. The sensual vocabulary and the visual sophistication which the Saya pendant gives off speak to our emotions. A masterful, suggestive, high-impact object, both when switched on and off.
I love this pendant for its sleek, contemporary look that balances minimalism with a touch of artistic flair. Its transparent glass and metal design make it versatile enough to suit modern, industrial, or even Scandinavian interiors, adding visual interest without overwhelming the space. It works particularly well over kitchen islands, dining tables, or in open-plan living areas where it can create a striking focal point. Practical styling tips include pairing it with exposed filament bulbs for a warmer, inviting glow or coordinating with other metal accents for a cohesive look. Keep the surrounding décor simple to let the pendant stand out, and consider positioning multiple units in a row for a dramatic effect in larger rooms.
