I’m a fan of the Roxby stools for their clean lines and the contrast between the warm oak-effect seat and matte black frame. They sit neatly into contemporary Scandi schemes or pared-back industrial kitchens without overpowering the space, and the slim legs keep your sightlines open in smaller rooms.
For practical styling, add a couple of neutral linen cushions to soften the seat and echo any nearby textiles, then hang a simple black-metal pendant light overhead to tie in the frame. These stools also work well clustered around a breakfast bar or island, and you can layer in natural textures - think woven baskets or a reclaimed‐wood cheeseboard - to complete a lived-in yet uncluttered look.

In 1980, Chris Dawson set up a simple open-air market stall in Plymouth.
