About Hug Rug
Hug Rug is a proudly British homeware brand known for creating practical, stylish and environmentally conscious floor coverings - including washable rugs, doormats and runners - that suit modern family life. Originally built on the textile expertise of its parent company, Phoenox Textiles, which has been weaving in Yorkshire since 1954, Hug Rug combines heritage craftsmanship with thoughtful design.
Hug Rug designs and manufactures many of its products at its mills in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, using recycled and responsibly sourced materials. The brand's mission is to create home textiles that not only look good but also help reduce environmental impact - with a focus on circular design and low‑waste production.
One of Hug Rug's standout features is that many of its rugs and mats are machine-washable, making them exceptionally easy to care for in daily life. Hug Rugs are designed to trap dirt, dust and mud - ideal for high‑traffic areas like hallways, kitchens and utility spaces - and can be refreshed at home without special cleaning.
With over 12,000 five-star reviews, Hug Rug has built a reputation for products that balance durability, comfort and sustainability. The use of recycled cotton, plastic bottles and other materials helps support greener living without sacrificing the practicality and warmth you want underfoot.
From compact doormats and runners to larger eco-washable area rugs, Hug Rug's collections are versatile enough to suit hallways, living rooms, bedrooms and outdoor-covered spaces alike. Whether you're protecting floors from daily mess or bringing a cosy touch to your décor, Hug Rug's range makes it easy to combine style with real-world functionality.
