Inspired by the sprawling, delicate shape of coral, Zena Holloway creates soft, textured dresses, collars, lamps, and mobiles from wheatgrass seed. The plant sprouts over the course of about two weeks in beeswax moulds. As it grows, it produces its intricately woven root structure, which the designer guides into specific spaces or allows to expand into large, sheet-like forms.
I love the rootpod pendant’s natural, tactile appeal, making it a versatile choice for a variety of interiors. It works particularly well in this larger size for creating a focal point above dining tables, kitchen islands, or even brightening an open-plan living space. Its organic, textured finish adds warmth and a handcrafted feel, perfect for pairing with Scandi, bohemian, or rustic settings. For styling tips, consider hanging it at different heights in a cluster for a sculptural effect, or keep it simple with other neutral tones and natural materials in the room to let it shine. Its understated yet distinctive look makes it an ideal statement piece that can seamlessly blend into both modern and more traditional interiors.
