Description

The. Ceramic Pendant lights were inspired by traditional French spun steel shades; classic, elegant shapes re-imagined with an arresting use of the key material. Handmade in the UK, these delicate and striking earthenware lights can shine solo, in uniform groups or mixed clusters with the other shapes in the family. Full Spun acts as an extension of the Half Spun form and, with meticulous attention to detail, a firm gesture to the traditional spun lampshade shape. Seeking to capture and remain honest to the handmade process, the exterior of the shade is left unfinished, giving the light natural matt finish of exposed earthenware. On this matt exterior can be seen the moulding marks which have been left exposed, capturing the manufacturing process. By contrast the interior of the shade is hand-glazed, giving a high gloss finish in white, blue or yellow. With the light switched on, the piece comes to life. The raw, tactile and sculptural quality presented by the exterior of the shade contrasts the slick finish and accent of colour from the interior, the glazed surface reflecting the light to stunning effect. These compelling lights are hung using fabric cable, available in a soft silver or orange acting as the playful finishing touch. All. Shades comes with a 2m cable assembly which includes an E 27 light fitting and ceiling rose cover. All our assemblies are tested to UK standards.

Our Stylist Says

I love this pendant lamp for its bold yet versatile design, making it a great statement piece without overwhelming a space. The large, blue shade adds a pop of colour that works particularly well in contemporary or retro-inspired interiors, especially when paired with neutral palettes or wood finishes. It’s perfect above dining tables, kitchen islands, or in a living area where you want to create visual interest. Practical styling tips include hanging it at different heights to add dimension or pairing it with minimalist decor to let the colour and shape stand out. It’s a modern classic that’s both functional and playful.

About Out & Out Original

Established in 2013, they offer unique furniture collections designed to add personality and style to your home. Their commitment to ethical sourcing and sustainable materials offers an exciting and conscientious approach to home furnishing.

The Inspiring Origins of Out & Out Original

In 2013, Daniel Fairburn decided to change how we buy furniture. Using his savings and a loan, he started Out & Out Original. He didn't have shops, but with the help of the internet, he showcased his furniture online. Their first sale? Two deckchairs to a man in Somerset.

They didn't have a big advertising budget, but popular magazines loved their designs and featured them. Recognition wasn't far behind, with accolades like the 'House Beautiful Gold Award for Best Furniture' under their belt within just two years.

What Makes Out & Out Original Different?

Out & Out Original believes in keeping things straightforward, from understanding furniture materials to delivery processes. Though smaller in scale compared to giants in the industry, they bring a significant amount of heart and dedication to the table.

A primary goal? Encouraging people to explore and rediscover the joy of finding the perfect piece of furniture that resonates with them. For those who seek a blend of quality, novelty, and authenticity in their buying experience, Out & Out Original promises to be a delightful discovery.

Sustainability at its Core

Recognizing the ethical duty to both their furniture makers and the environment, they prioritise responsible sourcing. For instance, instead of felling fresh trees, they lean into sustainable and reclaimed wood. Their commitment is evident in collaborations with global manufacturers, ensuring the use of locally sourced materials.

The company's association with WeForest led to the growth of 5,000 trees in the Atlantic Forest in 2020 alone. Moreover, they champion longevity, producing durable indoor furniture and encouraging the recycling of their toxin-free plastic furniture.
