The Drawing posters by French designer Ronan Bouroullec follow the idea of intuitive drawing. This technique helps him to develop new images and reach the subconscious levels of the mind. Intuitive drawing is derived from the literary roots of Surrealism and automatic writing, which requires the consciousness to be completely shut down while writing a text. This literary form then influenced the content of many surrealist artists' works and often results in meandering and flowing forms. The Drawing posters feature broad marker strokes that create fluid, abstract forms with a fascinating effect of depth. For Ronan Bouroullec, drawing is a relaxing and meditative process; he lets the pen glide freely and intuitively over the paper without planning the shapes he creates. Consequently, the shapes have no clear beginning or end, paving the way for a variety of interpretations. Since the early 2000s, the work of the brothers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec has emerged as one of the most representative of the dynamism of French design. Working as a pair since 1998, the two brothers now design for many industrialists, while pursuing experimental research. They have also worked on architectural projects for Camper, Issey Miyake, Kvadrat, etc. Several monographic exhibitions have been devoted to their work: The Design Museum in London in 2002, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles, the Boijmans van Beuningen Museum in Rotterdam and La Piscine, Musée d'Art et d'Industrie in Roubaix in 2004, Villa Noailles, Hyeres in 2008, Grand Hornu, Belgium in 2009, a quadruple exhibition in Rennes in 2016, etc. Their creations belong to collections in institutions such as the Musée national d'art moderne – Centre Pompidou and the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Design Museum in London and the Boijmans van Beuningen Museum in Rotterdam.
