Ron Lawson's explores the contemporary landscapes of Scotland. This ash wood-framed print is inspired by Fidden Bay on the Isle of Mull in the Hebrides. Born at home on a farm in Mid Lothian in 1960, Ron spent his early years enjoying the open spaces of the Scottish countryside. On leaving school at 16, Ron started work in the art studio of a large Scottish publishing house and here was encouraged to develop his watercolour skills. After 35 years, Ron left the firm to devote more time to painting and embark on a career as a full-time artist. Mixing a lifelong love of cycling with a desire to capture the beauty of the Highlands and islands of Scotland, Ron explores these areas with his bicycle, sketchpad and paint.
I love this print for its understated, calming vibe; it’s perfect for creating a tranquil focal point in living rooms, bedrooms, or even hallways. The neutral tones and minimalistic scene make it versatile, working well in contemporary spaces as well as more traditional interiors. For styling, consider pairing it with soft, textured furnishings and keeping surrounding décor simple to let the artwork stand out. It also works beautifully in a gallery wall arrangement or above a sideboard or bed, adding a touch of serenity without overwhelming the space. The framed mount adds a polished finish, ensuring it looks chic and well-presented in any setting.
