In contemporary or industrial interiors the metal legs pick up on darker accents while the timber softens the look; it also works well in a Scandi-style scheme if you keep surrounding furniture light and pared-back.
For practical styling, hang a simple mirror or framed print above, then group a slim table lamp with a narrow vase or a shallow tray for keys and mail.
