I love how this shelving unit combines a warm oak-effect finish with a contrasting dark drawer front, making it a versatile piece for both contemporary and gently rustic schemes. Its slim profile works well in narrower hallways or home offices, and the single drawer is ideal for stashing remotes, stationery or chargers out of sight.
Styling wise, alternate books with a couple of low-profile plants or sculptural ceramics on the open shelves to keep the look balanced, and use woven baskets on the lower compartments for extra concealed storage. In 1980, Chris Dawson set up a simple open-air market stall in Plymouth. By 1989, this entrepreneurial spirit led to the opening of the very first physical store on Billacombe Road, originally named "C.D.S. Superstores". However, in the early '90s, a rebranding took place, introducing "The Range" to the world.
Today, with a whopping 200+ stores across the UK, The Range boasts an impressive selection of over 65,000 products, spreading across 16 diverse departments, all dedicated to enhancing homes and lifestyles.
Chris Dawson, the brain behind The Range, held the CEO position from 1989 to 2017. With a flair for business, Chris's achievements haven't gone unnoticed. He was even ranked fifth in a survey of Britain's Top 100 Entrepreneurs.
