I’m a fan of the Raithwaite bed for its clean lines and solid oak finish - it brings warmth without feeling heavy. Its straightforward slatted headboard makes it a great fit in Scandi-inspired, modern farmhouse or coastal schemes, and the natural grain works beautifully alongside both cool and warm palettes. To style it, start with crisp white or soft grey bedding for contrast, then layer in a textured throw and a couple of muted-tone cushions. Born from the vision of two young RAF men, Charles Barker and Alex Stonehouse, Barker and Stonehouse emerged as a beacon of hope, infusing post-war Britain with a hint of glamour. Sustainability at the Forefront
From the very start, Barker and Stonehouse has held a deep commitment to the environment. This devotion was showcased through initiatives such as the Trees4Trees Project, a reforestation effort in Indonesia.
Ensuring that for every tree used in their products, more than two were replanted, nearly 1.5 million trees have been restored under this initiative.
Their Knaresborough store, one of the greenest retail stores in the UK, further underscores their dedication to sustainable practices. As a cherry on top, by 2021, the company achieved the status of "Carbon Neutral Plus", making them a trailblazer in the furniture industry.
