Description
A fascinating optical illusion for this coffee table designed by Italian artist Antonino Sciortino. The asymmetrical and imbalanced lines give the impression that the table is tilted. But this is just an optical illusion! The table is in fact fully functional: it is absolutely stable, and its tray is perfectly straight. The Ragno chair makes you lose your bearings, it defies logic and flirts with the absurd. It is a piece of furniture that exudes a sense of precarious balance, breaking with the very strict and linear environments we see in our everyday lives. Palermo artist Antonino Sciortino began to forge metal in his father's workshop at 8 years old, before then starting a career as dancer and choreographer. Returning to his first love of forging at 40 years old, he is today one of the most recognised metal artists in Italy. For Belgian brand Serax, he has signed an exclusive coaction for the general public. The mark of the artist is found in the artisanal stamp on the finish of the products.
