Striking and contemporary, Queen's Quarter is an opulent geometric wallpaper, taken from a small detail within a much larger scheme of Verrio murals. Its irregular octagons appear as corner vignettes within the Queen's Drawing Room at Hampton Court Palace, the decoration of which was commissioned by Queen Anne as a grand statement of her royal majesty and imperial power. The murals as a whole were designed to create the illusion of a marble hall open to the sky, with the walls painted to look like tapestries with wide floral borders and gold fringes. However, it is Queen's Quarter's burnished metallic that struck the Cole & Son creative team, its understated repeat and elegant detail revealing a hidden gem within the much larger traditional scheme. Displayed here in shades of green and gold. Use the Queens Quarter in a bedroom, office space, living room or dining room, or perhaps use to paper an entire staircase or hallway. The Queens Quarter wallpaper offers a fresh, lively green that’s ideal for brightening up a space or creating a calming backdrop. I love it for use in living rooms or bedrooms where a touch of colour can enhance the overall aesthetic without overpowering. It pairs beautifully with neutral furniture or darker, contrasting accents to add dimension. Practical styling tips include keeping furniture and accessories in more understated tones to let the wall colour stand out, and using layered lighting to bring out its subtle texture. While it’s technically wallpaper, it creates a vibrant wall feature that can support both contemporary and traditional interiors, making it a versatile choice for those looking to inject some colour with elegance.
