The Pyramid table is an icon of vintage and industrial design. It was designed in 1959 by Wim Rietveld. The son of the great designer and architect Gerrit Rietveld, he is considered one of the greatest Dutch designers of his generation. He wanted to design a rational and minimalist table. The Pyramid table is super solid, lightweight and practical. It combines an oak top with a folded steel structure. The metalwork is reminiscent of Jean Prouvé's work. This table looks so simple and that is precisely its strength. Nothing is superfluous. When you keep only the essential, the essence remains: A functional and timeless design.
I love this table’s sleek, minimalist aesthetic combined with its vintage re-issue charm. Its clean lines and contrasting materials-oak for the top and black metal legs-make it a versatile piece that works well in modern, Scandinavian, or industrial interiors. The rectangular shape and generous size (190 x 85 cm) make it perfect for both everyday family meals and larger dinner parties, while its understated design allows for flexible styling with colourful or neutral tableware. Practical tips include pairing it with tried-and-true wooden or sleek modern chairs to enhance its natural warmth, and adding a statement pendant overhead or some textured textiles for a layered look. This piece is a functional, handsome choice that can anchor a dining space in a variety of interior styles.
