Description

Cool and relaxed, retro style that works effortlessly in diverse decors, the Twyford Chair has a minimalist, open design “ making it an inviting addition to your dining space. Complementing a variety of stylish dining tables, the Twyford has a versatile look that combines a splayed, raw metal base with a sleek black finish, and charming leather in various shades to add a welcome burst of colour to your interior. For the perfect finishing touch, the Twyford includes a comfy, padded seat and back for that much needed extra comfort that allows the conversation to continue “ long after dining ends.

Our Stylist Says

I’m a fan of the Twyford chair for its clean lines and sturdy metal frame, which give it an industrial-meets-modern look. The brown faux-leather seat and back work brilliantly in both minimalist city flats and rustic kitchens, adding warmth without feeling fussy. Styling tip: team a set with a reclaimed-wood table to play up the contrast between hard and soft textures, then add simple linen cushions or a lightweight throw in a muted hue for extra comfort. Its slim profile means you can tuck it right under the table to maximise space when it’s not in use.

About Barker and Stonehouse

Founded in 1946, Barker and Stonehouse offer a diverse range of stylish and timeless pieces. From contemporary to traditional designs, Barker and Stonehouse brings sophistication and comfort to every room.

A Remarkable Journey

Born from the vision of two young RAF men, Charles Barker and Alex Stonehouse, Barker and Stonehouse emerged as a beacon of hope, infusing post-war Britain with a hint of glamour. Starting from a single store in Stockton on Tees, their entrepreneurial spirit led to rapid expansion, opening multiple stores across the region.

Their fast growth was fueled not only by their flair for business but also by their dedication to innovation. The business transformed over the years, adapting to the changing landscapes of retail, all while preserving its charm and values. By 2021, they marked an impressive 75 years in the industry, a testament to their enduring commitment to quality and customer service.

Sustainability at the Forefront

From the very start, Barker and Stonehouse has held a deep commitment to the environment. This devotion was showcased through initiatives such as the Trees4Trees Project, a reforestation effort in Indonesia.

Ensuring that for every tree used in their products, more than two were replanted, nearly 1.5 million trees have been restored under this initiative.

Their Knaresborough store, one of the greenest retail stores in the UK, further underscores their dedication to sustainable practices. As a cherry on top, by 2021, the company achieved the status of "Carbon Neutral Plus", making them a trailblazer in the furniture industry.

Innovative Spaces and Expanding Horizons

Over the decades, Barker and Stonehouse didn't just expand in number, but in the quality and innovation of their spaces. From opening their iconic store in Battersea, London, which beautifully preserved the characteristics of an old candle factory, to their latest state-of-the-art Gateshead store in 2023, every location tells a story.

They have also ventured into digital realms, ensuring a vast online presence and offering a wide range of products to customers all over the UK. Their partnerships, like the one with Fenwick in 2021, illustrate their adaptability and constant quest to reach new audiences.
