The Giacometti Console Tables have been designed as streamlined pieces to sit comfortably in hallways or behind sofas. The Giacometti pieces are constructed in a geometric frame and hand-worked to create a textured metal bar, and can be custom made to any size or finish. Many Porta Romana pieces are fully customisable. Products can be scaled up or down, proportions can be changed, and designs can be painted to your choice. I’m a fan of the Giacometti console in that warm, patinated gold because its slim metal frame doesn’t overwhelm a hallway or behind-sofa run, yet still feels luxe. It works equally well in contemporary, gallery-style or more classic schemes where you want a little shine without bulk.
To style it, keep the top fairly clear - perhaps a tall ceramic lamp or sculptural vase at one end, a neat stack of coffee-table books in the other, and a simple round mirror or an abstract artwork centred above. The open base helps to maximise light and maintain an airy feel.
