Description

Design. The classic design of the Celine Dining Chair by C Ballabio relates modern refinement with high quality materials for an outstanding look. Upholstered in Dorian fabric, the high arm rests and back create a comforting shell and sits on a walnut frame, carved by artisan craftsmen for an authentic finish. To establish a subtle yet graceful scheme, the Celine Dining Chair is ideal either as multiples or as a feature around the dining table. Our Stylist Says

I’m a big fan of this grey Celine chair for its neat profile and solid walnut legs - it brings just the right balance of formality and comfort. The softly curved back and discreet arm height mean it’s as practical for long dinners as it is for home-office use, and the mid-grey fabric works equally well with pale oak tables or darker stone-topped surfaces. Styling-wise, it slots seamlessly into Scandi, contemporary or transitional schemes. Pair it with a jute rug and brushed-metal pendant for a relaxed look, or contrast it against deep-painted walls for a more structured feel. Adding a textured linen seat pad or a slimback cushion will highlight the chair’s shape and keep things cosy through the seasons.

About Barker and Stonehouse

Founded in 1946, Barker and Stonehouse offer a diverse range of stylish and timeless pieces. From contemporary to traditional designs, Barker and Stonehouse brings sophistication and comfort to every room.

A Remarkable Journey

Born from the vision of two young RAF men, Charles Barker and Alex Stonehouse, Barker and Stonehouse emerged as a beacon of hope, infusing post-war Britain with a hint of glamour. Starting from a single store in Stockton on Tees, their entrepreneurial spirit led to rapid expansion, opening multiple stores across the region.

Their fast growth was fueled not only by their flair for business but also by their dedication to innovation. The business transformed over the years, adapting to the changing landscapes of retail, all while preserving its charm and values. By 2021, they marked an impressive 75 years in the industry, a testament to their enduring commitment to quality and customer service.

Sustainability at the Forefront

From the very start, Barker and Stonehouse has held a deep commitment to the environment. This devotion was showcased through initiatives such as the Trees4Trees Project, a reforestation effort in Indonesia.

Ensuring that for every tree used in their products, more than two were replanted, nearly 1.5 million trees have been restored under this initiative.

Their Knaresborough store, one of the greenest retail stores in the UK, further underscores their dedication to sustainable practices. As a cherry on top, by 2021, the company achieved the status of "Carbon Neutral Plus", making them a trailblazer in the furniture industry.

Innovative Spaces and Expanding Horizons

Over the decades, Barker and Stonehouse didn't just expand in number, but in the quality and innovation of their spaces. From opening their iconic store in Battersea, London, which beautifully preserved the characteristics of an old candle factory, to their latest state-of-the-art Gateshead store in 2023, every location tells a story.

They have also ventured into digital realms, ensuring a vast online presence and offering a wide range of products to customers all over the UK. Their partnerships, like the one with Fenwick in 2021, illustrate their adaptability and constant quest to reach new audiences.
