During lots of tests carried out over many years, Charles and Ray Eames were looking for new techniques to best adapt the three-dimensional moulded glued laminated timber to the silhouette of the human body. The Plywood Group chairs are iconic designs by Charles and Ray Eames that date from the period of their first experiences with three-dimensional moulded plywood. They have become classics, having lost none of their relevance to this day. Within the Plywood Group, they have combined the seats and backs with different bases. Thanks to the organic shape of the plywood shells and slightly flexible backrests, these light, compact chairs are very comfortable - even the versions without padding. The seat and back of the chairs are connected to the base by flexible rubber connectors that adapt to the position of the body. Due to the slim organic shapes of its seat and back shells, the Plywood Group chair quickly acquired the nickname the "potato chip chair". This version is covered in brown/white calfskin.
