In 1966, the Platner collection captured the 'decorative, gentle, graceful' shapes that were beginning to infiltrate the design world. This Platner Stool, finished in polished nickel and upholstered in Kvadrat's famous Hallingdal fabric, is created by welding hundreds of curved, steel rods to circular frames, simultaneously serving a structural and decorative purpose. The gently curved shape of the Platner Stool is accented with the tactile Hallingdal upholstery, which was designed in 1965 by Nanna Ditzel and weaves together two hues to create a multi-dimensional, soft edge to the clean-lined, modern design. Featuring a clear plastic extrusion ring on its base for a smooth bottom surface, the Platner Stool is the ultimate comfortable and compact seating solution, with a soft upholstered cushion pad. Still manufactured today by Knoll, the 1966 Platner collection by Warren Platner earned the designer worldwide recognition.
