Description

Bring the timelessness of gingham to your home with this wool blanket, made in Yorkshire using traditional methods, from the finest merino wool. Layer this blanket with the Piglet in Bed gingham linen bedding collection for a true British heritage look, or team it with the rest of the Piglet in Bed cotton and linen bedding collection for your own take on this nostalgic pattern. These blankets are made to keep, use every day and eventually pass down. We don't recommend machine washing your merino wool blanket. The best way to keep it clean, fresh, bacteria and toxin-free and to ensure it lasts, is to air it in the sunshine on the washing line at least 4 times a year, preferably at the start of each season. The sunshine sterilises the wool and the warmth of the sun will encourage any moisture trapped within the wool to be wicked away. Airing this blanket also encourages the fibres of the wool to naturally expand back out, ensuring that the fibre is revitalised and bounces back to life.

Our Stylist Says

I love this blanket for its charming gingham pattern and cosy wool texture, which add a touch of traditional warmth to modern and rustic interiors alike. It works well draped over a simple bed frame, particularly in neutral or earthy colour schemes, to introduce a subtle pattern and visual interest. For styling tips, consider pairing it with plain white or linen bedding to highlight the blanket's design, or layer it with contrasting textures like chunky knits or soft throws for a more inviting, layered look. It’s versatile enough to work in bedrooms with a country cottage vibe, Scandi minimalism, or even eclectic spaces, making it a practical yet stylish addition to your bed setup.

About John Lewis

Founded in 1864, John Lewis is a trusted and beloved brand where you can find a diverse range of furniture for every style and budget, alongside finding the perfect item that reflects your personal taste.

A Legacy of Innovation and Inclusion

John Lewis started as a small shop on London's Oxford Street in 1864. Today, it's part of a bigger family called the John Lewis Partnership, which also includes Waitrose stores.

What makes them special is that they're owned by their employees, known as 'Partners'. The idea, from the beginning, was to give everyone a say in how the business was run. With over 74,000 Partners (employees) at the heart of its operations, the essence of John Lewis's vision, from over a century ago, still echoes today being the largest employee-owned venture.

Adapting to Changing Times

Like many stores, John Lewis has had to change with the times. They've closed some shops but have grown their online business a lot, especially when more people started shopping online during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Their history is filled with key moments, like buying Peter Jones in 1905, adding Waitrose in 1937, and starting their website in 2001. They've always tried to adapt and stay relevant.

Commitment to a Greater Purpose

John Lewis believes in doing good and making the world a better place. This is seen in the way they treat their employees and customers. For example, in 2021, they were the first big UK store to give parents six months paid leave when they have a baby and two weeks paid leave if they lose a pregnancy. They've been around for over a century and always aim to do the right thing by everyone.
