The Danish designer, Simon Legald gives us an ethereal and dream-like version of antique chandeliers. The traditional form is reinterpreted with an innovative material. The hybrid Phantom pendant offers a delicious mixture of styles and periods. The lampshade is made with several "cocoon" resin layers sprayed onto a fine steel frame, reminiscent of the cocoon of a silkworm. The surprising quasi-"organic" material evokes the lightness of a material that has been frozen, the warm texture of paper and the cocoon of a silkworm all at once. The steel skeleton is visible via the transparency. The white monochrome finish reinforces the modern and clean look of this light. A surprising and delicate harmony is formed from the combination of the white minimalist lampshade and the traditional chandelier outline. The fibrous translucent material filters the light for a diffuse, warm and comfortable lighting. When lit, the Strand pendant creates a fanciful atmosphere in the space, with a real emotional force. The Phantom pendant decorates the space with its quirky, dream-like and poetic presence.
I love this small pendant for its clean, sculptural form that adds a subtle focal point without overpowering a space. Its cocoon resin design brings a soft, organic feel that works especially well in modern, Scandi-inspired interiors. It suits kitchens, Dining areas, or even cosy corners where you want to introduce gentle diffused light. For styling, I recommend grouping it with other pendant lights at varying heights for visual interest, or pairing it with minimal accessories to let its unique shape shine. It’s a versatile piece that elevates even understated interiors through its understated elegance and tactile quality.
