The result of eight years' consideration, the Petit Standard chair is a study in precision and detail. Its name is a tribute to the iconic Standard chair by Jean Prouvé. Norwegian designer Daniel Rybakken wanted to create a highly stackable chair, whose stacking characteristics would help improve its design. The Petit Standard chair combines functionality with an original, iconic design. The structure is made up of steel tubes that split and connect at the rear, forming a three-dimensional triangle. A true distinctive sign, this light, graphic frame draws a geometric silhouette. This unusual structure does not just have an aesthetic function: it optimises the chair's resistance and stacking capacity, making it ideal for public environments (businesses, educational establishments, restaurants…). The modernity of the steel structure is counterbalanced by the warmth of the oak plywood seat. The high backrest and curved seat ensure great comfort.
I love the petite standard stacking chair for its clean, minimalist design that seamlessly blends steel and natural wood. It’s versatile enough to suit a variety of interiors, from Scandi-inspired spaces to modern kitchens or even cosy cafes. Its stackable nature makes it practical for both everyday use and hosting, while the light wood lends warmth without feeling bulky. For styling tips, consider pairing it with a simple wooden or glass dining table to emphasise its understated charm, or mix and match with coloured chairs for a more eclectic look. Its understated design also works well in smaller spaces where every piece should contribute to a sense of openness.
