I’m a fan of this yellow velvet stool because its soft, quilted upholstery adds just the right splash of colour without overwhelming a space, and the slim black legs keep the look light. It works brilliantly in contemporary kitchens and breakfast bars, but you could just as easily slot it into a Scandi-inspired diner corner or an industrial-chic open plan. For styling, pair it with a matt black or timber counter to pick up the leg finish, then introduce brass or gold-tone accessories - think pendant lights or a bar cart - to echo the warm velvet. Keep surrounding décor fairly pared-back (neutral walls, simple ceramics) so that the stool remains the focus.

Humble Beginnings
In 1980, Chris Dawson set up a simple open-air market stall in Plymouth. By 1989, this entrepreneurial spirit led to the opening of the very first physical store on Billacombe Road, originally named "C.D.S. Superstores".
