Description
Originally created for the National Pensions Institute building in Helsinki, the brass and white Pendant Light A333 was designed by Alvar Aalto in the 1950s and would lend a touch of contemporary style to any home. Nicknamed The Turnip after its distinctive organic shape, the light combines elegance with simplicity to give it a sculptural quality that commands attention even when unlit. With a white powder-coated hand spun steel shade, the light is finished with a perforated brass-plated inner ring at the bottom that creates a corona effect around the pendant light. When in use, circular recesses to the top of the lampshade emphasise the light’s rounded form, adding the final touch to a light that would enhance any space with its warm glow. Alvar Aalto was one of the founding members of Finnish manufacturer, Artek, and embraced strong individuality with focus on designing predominantly for humanity, creating functional and dynamic pieces for public and personal spaces alike. Requires: 1 x Max 60W E27 bulb (not included).
