The SEMI pendant is a one of a kind pendant lamp based on two quarter circles placed back-to-back. With its light, one of a kind shape, timeless design and the variety of colours and sizes, the SEMI pendant is extremely versatile and suitable for both private and public spaces. The SEMI pendant was designed in 1968 as a product of the creative partnership between Claus Bonderup and Torsten Thorup. In response to the soft organic shapes, the so-called cosy era that dominated Denmark at that time, Bonderup and Thorup wanted to create a lamp that combines sharp, clear lines and a geometric shape. Dimmable in combination with dimmable light source and external dimmer. The pendant lamp is individually height adjustable.
I love this pendant lamp for its sleek, minimalist design that adds a modern touch without overwhelming the space. Its semi-matte finish and understated shape work beautifully in contemporary interiors, particularly in kitchens or dining areas where a clean, sculptural element is desired. It’s versatile enough to complement Scandinavian, mid-century, or industrial styles when paired with natural materials or metallic accents. Practical styling tips include hanging it at eye level over a dining table or kitchen island for focused task lighting, and grouping multiple units in a cluster for a more dramatic visual impact. Its simple elegance makes it a flexible choice that can elevate a range of interiors.
