"Created in 1968 by the French designer Michel Arnoult, one of the fathers of the Ready-To-Assemble furniture (RTA) and the flat packaging in the Fifties, the Peg-Lev armchair, literally ""I take and I carry"", is one of the premises of the current Cash & Carry. This designer who always ardently defended the democratization of design at the expense of any creative vanity focused on flat-pack making possible the customers to carry easily their furniture, revolutionary approach for that time.
I love this armchair for its sleek, minimalist design that effortlessly combines a touch of Nordic style with durability. The contrast of black and natural wood makes it a versatile piece that works just as well in a contemporary living space as in a more eclectic or boho setting. It’s a practical addition to both small reading corners and larger seating arrangements, adding visual interest without overwhelming the space. For styling, consider pairing it with textured throws or cushions in neutral tones or muted colours to highlight its clean lines, and place it near a lush plant or statement side table to create a cosy yet stylish vignette. It’s a standout accent piece that offers both form and function, perfect for adding a bit of understated sophistication.
