I’m particularly fond of the Evolution armchair by Parker Knoll for its clean lines and generous cushioning - it feels as solidly made today as it will in ten years’ time. Its neutral upholstery and tapered wooden legs mean it sits equally well in a contemporary city flat or a more traditional countryside sitting room. For styling, try placing it beside a slimline floor lamp and a compact side table so it becomes a dedicated reading spot. Add a knitted throw or a cushion in a contrasting colour (teal or mustard work well) to break up the grey and introduce a little warmth. If you’ve got a rug underfoot, choose one with a low pile and subtle geometric pattern to echo the chair’s angular profile without overwhelming the space.
