The Pao cordless lamp was designed by Japanese designer Naoto Fukasawa, one of the biggest names in contemporary design who is working with Hay for the first time. To design Pao, Naoto Fukasawa was inspired by Mongolian yurts which cast a spellbinding light at night when illuminated from within. This cordless version is made entirely from polycarbonate. The high-shine finish reflects the light. Inside the lampshade, an opalescent polycarbonate diffuser completely conceals the integrated LED light source, creating the perfect aesthetic. The Pao table lamp provides optimal lighting: uniform and non-dazzling. This cordless lamp is portable and weather-resistant, making it ideal for outdoor use. This small ambient lamp is an ideal addition in a lounge or hallway, and is perfect to create a soft mood lighting around a table when dining al fresco. Thanks to the three brightness level options, you can adjust the lighting to suit what you're doing. This project makes clear the love that designer Naoto Fukasawa has for simple, beautiful things, for all that’s universal and emanates from everyday life. The functionality and deliberate simplicity of the Pao lamp makes it suitable for a wide range of spaces.
I love this mushroom-shaped lamp for its playful yet sleek aesthetic, making it a versatile piece that adds a touch of modern charm to various interiors. It works particularly well in contemporary and minimalist spaces, where its clean lines and subtle colour can complement neutral palettes. For styling, consider placing it on a bedside table or a sideboard to introduce a soft, diffused glow. It also pairs well with natural materials like wood or concrete, and looks great combined with other quirky, sculptural accessories. A practical tip is to use it in spaces where soft mood lighting is desired without sacrificing style, making it an eye-catching yet functional addition.
