The Pao cordless lamp was designed by Japanese designer Naoto Fukasawa, one of the biggest names in contemporary design who is working with Hay for the first time. To design Pao, Naoto Fukasawa was inspired by Mongolian yurts which cast a spellbinding light at night when illuminated from within. This cordless version is made entirely from polycarbonate. The high-shine finish reflects the light. Inside the lampshade, an opalescent polycarbonate diffuser completely conceals the integrated LED light source, creating the perfect aesthetic. The Pao table lamp provides optimal lighting: uniform and non-dazzling. This cordless lamp is portable and weather-resistant, making it ideal for outdoor use. This small ambient lamp is an ideal addition in a lounge or hallway, and is perfect to create a soft mood lighting around a table when dining al fresco. Thanks to the three brightness level options, you can adjust the lighting to suit what you're doing. This project makes clear the love that designer Naoto Fukasawa has for simple, beautiful things, for all that’s universal and emanates from everyday life. The functionality and deliberate simplicity of the Pao lamp makes it suitable for a wide range of spaces.
I love this little lamp for its playful yet minimalist design. The Pao wireless lamp’s mushroom shape lends a fun touch to a variety of interiors, from contemporary to Scandi-inspired schemes. Its beige polycarbonate finish makes it a versatile piece that works well in cosy living rooms, bedside tables, or even in home offices where soft, ambient lighting is essential. When styling, consider pairing it with natural materials like wood or linen for a relaxed feel, or using it alongside more modern pieces to add a subtle touch of quirkiness. Practical tip: its portable design means you can move it around effortlessly, making it ideal for creating cosy zones or accent lighting in different spaces.
