It sits equally well in a pared-back hallway or as an accent in a modern living room, especially against pale walls or within a neutral scheme where the colour can really pop.
For styling, keep the top surface uncluttered: a slim tray for keys or post, a low vase of foliage and one framed photo or piece of art resting against the wall. You can use the drawer for mittens or chargers, and on the lower shelf corral a woven basket for scarves or store extra throws in a sleek box.
