I’m a fan of these grey velvet stools for their mix of comfort and clean lines - the softly quilted seat and subtle gold-tipped legs give just enough polish without feeling overly fussy. They sit beautifully in both contemporary and transitional schemes, pairing equally well with a marble-topped island or a reclaimed-wood bar. For styling, keep the palette neutral and add texture: a slim linen runner across the counter or a couple of woven placemats can balance the velvet, while a low-profile vase of fresh herbs softens the industrial feel of the metal frame. Ensure there’s around 30cm between stools for comfortable seating.

Humble Beginnings
In 1980, Chris Dawson set up a simple open-air market stall in Plymouth. By 1989, this entrepreneurial spirit led to the opening of the very first physical store on Billacombe Road, originally named "C.D.S. Superstores". However, in the early '90s, a rebranding took place, introducing "The Range" to the world.

Under his leadership, The Range has not only thrived locally but has also hinted at European expansion dreams, envisioning a staggering 1,000 stores across the continent.
