'Owen Jones was a Victorian architect designer and reknowned commentator on decorative ornament. His book 'The Grammar of Ornament' published in 1856 was a stunningly illustrated catalogue encompassing every decorative style and influence from around the world. 'Owen Jones' wallpaper depicting a simple fleur de lys a quintessential Jones motif first appeared in the Morris & Co. Volume III collection. This universally recognised geometric trellis design is available in both rich and neutral colourways and provides a wonderful backdrop to the Morris prints and weaves. Shown here in a madder red colourway. Use the Owen Jones wallpaper as a feature wall in a bedroom or kitchen, or perhaps to cover an entire living room space, making the perfect environment to relax in. This wallpaper is part of the Morris Wallpapers Compendium I & II collection. Application Method: paste the wall and then apply. Pattern match: straight match. Vertical repeat: 11cm.
I love this Owen Jones wallpaper for its subtle, timeless pattern and soft beige tone, which makes it a versatile choice for many interiors. Although it’s a rug, the pattern would translate beautifully onto flooring to create a gentle, understated base, especially in classic or vintage-inspired spaces. When styling, it works well with neutral textiles, natural woods, and brass accents to enhance its traditional charm. For practical tips, consider using it in living rooms or bedrooms where a durable, easy-to-maintain option is key-pair it with layered textiles for comfort without overwhelming the space. Its muted palette also makes it an excellent backdrop for colourful accessories or artwork, allowing those elements to pop organically.
