Description

Originally designed by Ole Wanscher in 1951, the OW124 Chair's pronounced armrests and eye-like cover caps inspired its alternative name - The Beak Chair. Designed with exquisite attention to detail, the fine elements of Wanscher's OW124 Beak Chair include the high quality soaped oak frame, slender armrests and expressive silhouette. Crafted from soaped oak, the Beak Chair's frame is complemented by supple leather upholstery from Carl Hansen's premium Thor range. This coated semi-aniline ox hide leather has a natural grain, low breathability and is soft to the touch, exemplifying the quality to expect from the OW124 Beak Chair. Inspired by Wanscher's philosophy of "design for all", the OW124 Beak Chair was created with a respect for natural materials and a focus on reinterpreting classical shapes to suit modern day needs. The OW124 Beak Chair is crafted in Denmark to an intricate standard by prestigious collective Carl Hansen & Søn and would be the perfect option for introducing iconic design into your décor. Available in 6 different leather finishes.

Our Stylist Says

I love this chair because of its blend of natural materials and modern design. The beak shape adds a unique visual interest, while the soap oak and Thor leather give it a warm, sophisticated feel. This piece works particularly well in contemporary or Scandinavian-inspired interiors, where its minimalist frame can complement pared-back colour schemes, or in eclectic spaces for a touch of character. Practical styling tips include pairing it with a textured throw or contrasting cushion to soften the leather, or placing it alongside natural wood or greenery to enhance its organic vibe. It’s versatile enough to serve as an accent piece in a living room corner, a statement piece in a bedroom, or even a standalone feature in a hallway.
