Price History

Description

Form and function marry beautifully in the Otway sideboard. Its rustic wooden design is rich with colour and character, courtesy of a stunning smoked wild oak finish. Lending an industrial look to this contemporary piece, black metal legs and handles beautifully complement the Otway’s masculine nature.;Built with more than style in mind, the sideboard offers ample storage via its two spacious cupboards and three drawers – so you can stash away the clutter inside and show off your favourite things on top.;Combine with the Otway dining table, coffee table, lamp table or TV lowboard to create a cohesive space.

Our Stylist Says

I love this sideboard because of its versatile smoked wild oak finish, which adds warmth and texture to a variety of interiors. It works particularly well in contemporary, Scandinavian, or rustic schemes, providing both style and practical storage in dining rooms, living spaces, or hallways. For styling tips, consider placing statement tableware or decorative vases on top to define the space, while keeping the drawers and cabinets free of clutter for a clean look. Pairing it with black or matte metal accents can enhance its modern edge, making it a focal point that also offers functional storage solutions.

About Barker and Stonehouse

Founded in 1946, Barker and Stonehouse offer a diverse range of stylish and timeless pieces. From contemporary to traditional designs, Barker and Stonehouse brings sophistication and comfort to every room.

A Remarkable Journey

Born from the vision of two young RAF men, Charles Barker and Alex Stonehouse, Barker and Stonehouse emerged as a beacon of hope, infusing post-war Britain with a hint of glamour. Starting from a single store in Stockton on Tees, their entrepreneurial spirit led to rapid expansion, opening multiple stores across the region.

Their fast growth was fueled not only by their flair for business but also by their dedication to innovation. The business transformed over the years, adapting to the changing landscapes of retail, all while preserving its charm and values. By 2021, they marked an impressive 75 years in the industry, a testament to their enduring commitment to quality and customer service.

Sustainability at the Forefront

From the very start, Barker and Stonehouse has held a deep commitment to the environment. This devotion was showcased through initiatives such as the Trees4Trees Project, a reforestation effort in Indonesia.

Ensuring that for every tree used in their products, more than two were replanted, nearly 1.5 million trees have been restored under this initiative.

Their Knaresborough store, one of the greenest retail stores in the UK, further underscores their dedication to sustainable practices. As a cherry on top, by 2021, the company achieved the status of "Carbon Neutral Plus", making them a trailblazer in the furniture industry.

Innovative Spaces and Expanding Horizons

Over the decades, Barker and Stonehouse didn't just expand in number, but in the quality and innovation of their spaces. From opening their iconic store in Battersea, London, which beautifully preserved the characteristics of an old candle factory, to their latest state-of-the-art Gateshead store in 2023, every location tells a story.

They have also ventured into digital realms, ensuring a vast online presence and offering a wide range of products to customers all over the UK. Their partnerships, like the one with Fenwick in 2021, illustrate their adaptability and constant quest to reach new audiences.
