Description

Modern, versatile and timeless crafted from beautiful, brushed oak with a cool-toned hesse oil grey finish, the Oslo Bookshelf features 4 split shelves to form asymmetric compartments that complete its contemporary design. Ideal for storing books or displaying your favourite accessories and ornaments, the Oslo Bookshelf can be utilised in living spaces, home offices or even provide stylish extra storage in your bedroom.

Our Stylist Says

The Oslo bookshelf in brown offers a versatile and contemporary look that works well in a variety of interiors, from minimalist scandi styles to more industrial or rustic spaces. I love its open, geometric design, which allows for both practical storage and visual interest. For styling, I recommend mixing books with decorative objects, plants, and organised photo frames to break up the linearity and add personality. It’s particularly effective when placed in living rooms or home offices, where it can be both functional and a focal point. To keep it looking tidy, consider colour-coordinating or arranging items by size, and don’t be afraid to layer taller pieces at the back with smaller accents at the front for a styled, curated appearance.

About Barker and Stonehouse

Founded in 1946, Barker and Stonehouse offer a diverse range of stylish and timeless pieces. From contemporary to traditional designs, Barker and Stonehouse brings sophistication and comfort to every room.

A Remarkable Journey

Born from the vision of two young RAF men, Charles Barker and Alex Stonehouse, Barker and Stonehouse emerged as a beacon of hope, infusing post-war Britain with a hint of glamour. Starting from a single store in Stockton on Tees, their entrepreneurial spirit led to rapid expansion, opening multiple stores across the region.

Their fast growth was fueled not only by their flair for business but also by their dedication to innovation. The business transformed over the years, adapting to the changing landscapes of retail, all while preserving its charm and values. By 2021, they marked an impressive 75 years in the industry, a testament to their enduring commitment to quality and customer service.

Sustainability at the Forefront

From the very start, Barker and Stonehouse has held a deep commitment to the environment. This devotion was showcased through initiatives such as the Trees4Trees Project, a reforestation effort in Indonesia.

Ensuring that for every tree used in their products, more than two were replanted, nearly 1.5 million trees have been restored under this initiative.

Their Knaresborough store, one of the greenest retail stores in the UK, further underscores their dedication to sustainable practices. As a cherry on top, by 2021, the company achieved the status of "Carbon Neutral Plus", making them a trailblazer in the furniture industry.

Innovative Spaces and Expanding Horizons

Over the decades, Barker and Stonehouse didn't just expand in number, but in the quality and innovation of their spaces. From opening their iconic store in Battersea, London, which beautifully preserved the characteristics of an old candle factory, to their latest state-of-the-art Gateshead store in 2023, every location tells a story.

They have also ventured into digital realms, ensuring a vast online presence and offering a wide range of products to customers all over the UK. Their partnerships, like the one with Fenwick in 2021, illustrate their adaptability and constant quest to reach new audiences.
