Description
A true allrounder, French designer Benjamin Graindorge reinterprets the decorative arts, materials and traditional skills. With Orso, he revisits the tradition of animal sculpture which was very popular during the Second Empire. Combining craftsmanship and cutting-edge technology, this ceramic bear figurine is modelled in 3. D. It’s handcrafted using a mould sculpted by ultra-sophisticated digitally controlled tools. The embossed, rough surface expresses an organic sensitivity. This irregular, unusual texture exudes a strangeness which challenges our emotions and evokes poetic sensations. Benjamin Graindorge explains: “My job is not to invent materials or skills, but to ensure they are viewed differently. ” Benjamin Graindorge won the Audi talents design awards in 2008 and the ELLE young designer of the year international decoration award in 2012.
