Description

With a boxy base, slim arms and tapered legs, the Mimosa sofa displays a distinct mid-century style influence, yet a bold blend of colour and pattern makes it ideal for both classic and contemporary settings. The raised design enhances space and gives a streamlined finish, whilst velvet upholstery, plump foam filled seats and fibre backs provide sumptuous sink-in appeal. Dressed up with scatter cushions in your choice of signature prints, the Mimosa makes a stunning statement in any living space, with bolster cushions bringing additional comfort and shape. Choose brass-tipped feet for extra mid-century appeal. Image shown in Glyde Forest with Giant Abacus Red and Linear Stem Multi scatter cushion and Brass tipped American Walnut feet.

Our Stylist Says

I love the Orla Kiely sofa for its bold yet versatile design, which works beautifully in both modern and eclectic interiors. Its rich green hue offers a striking focal point, especially when paired with neutral or earthy tones. The shape and proportion make it a practical choice for larger living rooms or open-plan spaces. For styling tips, consider adding textured cushions or throws in complementary colours to soften the look, and don’t shy away from layering with patterned accessories to enhance its vintage-inspired vibe. Its simple, clean lines make it adaptable, so it functions well as a statement piece or as part of a more relaxed, layered scheme.

About Barker and Stonehouse

Founded in 1946, Barker and Stonehouse offer a diverse range of stylish and timeless pieces. From contemporary to traditional designs, Barker and Stonehouse brings sophistication and comfort to every room.

A Remarkable Journey

Born from the vision of two young RAF men, Charles Barker and Alex Stonehouse, Barker and Stonehouse emerged as a beacon of hope, infusing post-war Britain with a hint of glamour. Starting from a single store in Stockton on Tees, their entrepreneurial spirit led to rapid expansion, opening multiple stores across the region.

Their fast growth was fueled not only by their flair for business but also by their dedication to innovation. The business transformed over the years, adapting to the changing landscapes of retail, all while preserving its charm and values. By 2021, they marked an impressive 75 years in the industry, a testament to their enduring commitment to quality and customer service.

Sustainability at the Forefront

From the very start, Barker and Stonehouse has held a deep commitment to the environment. This devotion was showcased through initiatives such as the Trees4Trees Project, a reforestation effort in Indonesia.

Ensuring that for every tree used in their products, more than two were replanted, nearly 1.5 million trees have been restored under this initiative.

Their Knaresborough store, one of the greenest retail stores in the UK, further underscores their dedication to sustainable practices. As a cherry on top, by 2021, the company achieved the status of "Carbon Neutral Plus", making them a trailblazer in the furniture industry.

Innovative Spaces and Expanding Horizons

Over the decades, Barker and Stonehouse didn't just expand in number, but in the quality and innovation of their spaces. From opening their iconic store in Battersea, London, which beautifully preserved the characteristics of an old candle factory, to their latest state-of-the-art Gateshead store in 2023, every location tells a story.

They have also ventured into digital realms, ensuring a vast online presence and offering a wide range of products to customers all over the UK. Their partnerships, like the one with Fenwick in 2021, illustrate their adaptability and constant quest to reach new audiences.
