Description

With its convenient L-shaped design and tapered legs, the Orla Kiely Mimosa large chaise sofa really knows how to maximise space. Boxy in shape, defined by clean lines and slim arms, it brings a modern feel to any living room, whilst bolster cushions give a subtle nod to traditional style. Available in dark, neutral and vibrant hues, the sofa’s fabric is smooth and contemporary, but two additional scatter cushions add a touch of retro charm in your choice of playful print. Perfect for stretching out or socialising, you’re sure to find your new favourite spot as you sink into the foam and fibre filling of the Mimosa. Our Stylist Says

I love this sofa for its versatile, timeless appeal; the clean lines and neutral grey tone make it suitable for a variety of interiors, from contemporary to Scandi-inspired spaces. Its large size makes it perfect for family rooms or open-plan living areas, offering ample seating. When styling, consider adding colourful cushions or throws to create visual interest and contrast, while keeping the space feeling inviting. It works well with both soft pastel palettes and richer, more saturated colours, so don’t be afraid to experiment with different accessories. The wooden tapered legs also add a touch of warmth, making it easy to pair with other wooden or natural materials in the room. Practical tip: keep the surrounding decor minimal to let the sofa shine as a statement piece, or layer with textured rugs and artwork for a cosy, curated feel.

About Barker and Stonehouse

Founded in 1946, Barker and Stonehouse offer a diverse range of stylish and timeless pieces. From contemporary to traditional designs, Barker and Stonehouse brings sophistication and comfort to every room.

A Remarkable Journey

Born from the vision of two young RAF men, Charles Barker and Alex Stonehouse, Barker and Stonehouse emerged as a beacon of hope, infusing post-war Britain with a hint of glamour. Starting from a single store in Stockton on Tees, their entrepreneurial spirit led to rapid expansion, opening multiple stores across the region.

Their fast growth was fueled not only by their flair for business but also by their dedication to innovation. The business transformed over the years, adapting to the changing landscapes of retail, all while preserving its charm and values. By 2021, they marked an impressive 75 years in the industry, a testament to their enduring commitment to quality and customer service.

Sustainability at the Forefront

From the very start, Barker and Stonehouse has held a deep commitment to the environment. This devotion was showcased through initiatives such as the Trees4Trees Project, a reforestation effort in Indonesia.

Ensuring that for every tree used in their products, more than two were replanted, nearly 1.5 million trees have been restored under this initiative.

Their Knaresborough store, one of the greenest retail stores in the UK, further underscores their dedication to sustainable practices. As a cherry on top, by 2021, the company achieved the status of "Carbon Neutral Plus", making them a trailblazer in the furniture industry.

Innovative Spaces and Expanding Horizons

Over the decades, Barker and Stonehouse didn't just expand in number, but in the quality and innovation of their spaces. From opening their iconic store in Battersea, London, which beautifully preserved the characteristics of an old candle factory, to their latest state-of-the-art Gateshead store in 2023, every location tells a story.

They have also ventured into digital realms, ensuring a vast online presence and offering a wide range of products to customers all over the UK. Their partnerships, like the one with Fenwick in 2021, illustrate their adaptability and constant quest to reach new audiences.
