Description

Creating a cosy corner in the living room or becoming a stylish bedroom centrepiece, the Ivy chair boasts perfect proportions, comfortable cushioning and a gorgeous retro silhouette. Chic buttonless tufting provides a gentle hint of elegance, beautifully complemented by the piped edge detailing. A scatter cushion featuring your choice of iconic bold print lifts the look, and brings a colourful contrast that is suitable for both contemporary and classic interiors. With generous foam and fibre filling, high arms and quality upholstery, you can sit snugly from breakfast until bedtime. Our Stylist Says

Ivy armchair from Barker & Stonehouse is a great all-rounder - the deep green chenille gives just enough texture without overwhelming a room. I’d pair it with warm wood tones and brass accents to bring out its retro shape, or slot it into a Scandi-inspired living room alongside light oak furniture and a neutral rug. For styling, add a patterned cushion (ideally in complementary shades) and drape a cosy wool throw over one arm to soften the clean lines. Its compact size makes it perfect for snug corners or as an accent in larger open-plan spaces, and the hard-wearing fabric means it holds up well to daily use.

About Barker and Stonehouse

Founded in 1946, Barker and Stonehouse offer a diverse range of stylish and timeless pieces. From contemporary to traditional designs, Barker and Stonehouse brings sophistication and comfort to every room.

A Remarkable Journey

Born from the vision of two young RAF men, Charles Barker and Alex Stonehouse, Barker and Stonehouse emerged as a beacon of hope, infusing post-war Britain with a hint of glamour. Starting from a single store in Stockton on Tees, their entrepreneurial spirit led to rapid expansion, opening multiple stores across the region.

Their fast growth was fueled not only by their flair for business but also by their dedication to innovation. The business transformed over the years, adapting to the changing landscapes of retail, all while preserving its charm and values. By 2021, they marked an impressive 75 years in the industry, a testament to their enduring commitment to quality and customer service.

Sustainability at the Forefront

From the very start, Barker and Stonehouse has held a deep commitment to the environment. This devotion was showcased through initiatives such as the Trees4Trees Project, a reforestation effort in Indonesia.

Ensuring that for every tree used in their products, more than two were replanted, nearly 1.5 million trees have been restored under this initiative.

Their Knaresborough store, one of the greenest retail stores in the UK, further underscores their dedication to sustainable practices. As a cherry on top, by 2021, the company achieved the status of "Carbon Neutral Plus", making them a trailblazer in the furniture industry.

Innovative Spaces and Expanding Horizons

Over the decades, Barker and Stonehouse didn't just expand in number, but in the quality and innovation of their spaces. From opening their iconic store in Battersea, London, which beautifully preserved the characteristics of an old candle factory, to their latest state-of-the-art Gateshead store in 2023, every location tells a story.

They have also ventured into digital realms, ensuring a vast online presence and offering a wide range of products to customers all over the UK. Their partnerships, like the one with Fenwick in 2021, illustrate their adaptability and constant quest to reach new audiences.
