Endlessly reproduced, the timeless "Original 1227" architect lamp by Angelpoise has been an icon of British design for more than 70 years. Its typical 1930s style celebrates the industrial atmosphere. The original model was designed in 1933 by automotive engineer George Carwardine. This seasoned inventor has created a unique spring system, used to design an articulated lamp that can be adjusted whilst retaining perfect stability. The collection has simply expanded over time, now featuring several models of lamps, wall lights, floor lights, pendant lights, and so on. This range boasts retro colours straight from the 1950s and a stunning cord made with braided fabric. The Original 1227 floor light pairs the classic silhouette of the Anglepoise® lampshade and the constant articulation of the spring with a stunning, colourful and braided cable. It's perfect for use as a reading lamp. All Anglepoise lamps come with a lifetime guarantee: it’s a guarantee of durability, strength and high quality. Anglepoise promises to repair or, if that’s not possible, replace your lamp while recycling your old one. This special edition is the outcome of a collaboration between Anglepoise and the National Trust. This non-profit British charity was founded with the aim of protecting and showcasing monuments and sites of public interest. The funds raised finance conservation work for the Trust's various hidden gems, tucked away in the British landscapes, such as The Homewood, a modernist villa in Surrey which provided a source of inspiration for the very first Anglepoise X National Trust collaboration.
