Description

With legs reminiscent of an hourglass, lending it its name – Tempus being the Latin for time – this range of tables is made from recycled elm. Our artisans work with repurposed wood sourced from the beams, old doors, walls and floors of derelict homes in China, some of which are more than 100 years old – steeping each piece in history. This Coffee Table is handmade and the recycled materials will result in each piece having individual characteristics. In contrast to some of our other reclaimed wood pieces, the Tempus withholds a lot of its material’s original character and charm in the way that the wood has been put together with visible joins, colour and texture variation. It remains unstained for a natural finish.

Our Stylist Says

I’m a fan of the Tempus coffee table for its sturdy recycled-elm top and the architectural curve of its trestle base. Its warm, weathered finish sits equally well in a contemporary Scandi living room or a relaxed coastal home and brings a natural anchor to more minimalist schemes. Styling-wise, keep the surface clear-eyed: a low vase of greenery, a shallow tray for remotes and candles, plus a small stack of art-book hardbacks to vary height. Pair with a natural-fibre rug and simple linen upholstery to let the table’s texture take centre stage.
