Description

Named for its geometric pattern that resembles the sycamore seeds that spiral to the ground, this rug is handwoven by seven individual artisans each with their own skillsets from dyeing to weaving and washing. The yarns are crafted from approximately 1000-2000 recycled plastic bottles. This material not only makes it a piece with eco credentials, it also gives the rug weather-resistant qualities that make it appropriate for outside use. It takes the seven individual craftspeople around 20 days to complete the dyeing, weaving and washing process, and due to the careful manual techniques, each piece will have individual characteristics which add to their charm.

Our Stylist Says

I love the OKA Sycamore indoor/outdoor rug for its versatile design and durability. Its aged terracotta tone adds warmth and a touch of earthy charm, making it an excellent choice for both relaxed living rooms and outdoor terraces. It works particularly well in spaces that blend indoor and outdoor aesthetics, such as sunrooms or patios, as it’s resilient enough to handle the elements while still providing a stylish foundation. Practical styling tips include layering with textured cushions or throws that pick up the rug’s colour palette, and pairing it with natural materials like wood or wicker for a cohesive, inviting look. Its size also makes it flexible for defining areas or creating a cosy corner within larger open-plan spaces.
