Description

Club chairs were originally created in France, named ‘fauteuil confortable’ – which translates to ‘comfortable armchair’. This could not be more fitting for our Large George, which has been reimagined with bigger dimensions and finished with striking, handwoven upholstery that adds an instant pop of colour to a room. The upholstery is crafted by skilled artisans, who take their time expertly weaving strands of wool and cotton into a Kilim rug by hand: this process involves natural threads being placed on a loom to form the rug’s base, then coloured strands are woven horizontally to form the stripe. The rug is then washed and brushed for an antiqued appearance and carefully clipped of stray threads, before it is applied to the frame of the George and finished with brass studs. Due to the artisanal techniques used, each piece will have individual characteristics that add to their charm.

Our Stylist Says

I’m a fan of this multi-striped club chair for its mix of warm, earthy hues and neat, tailored profile. The generous feather-filled seat means it’s as comfortable as it is eye-catching, so it works equally well in a relaxed living room or an eclectic study. Styling tip: balance the stripes with a plain, neutral wool throw and a simple oak side table to keep the look grounded. It also pairs nicely with deep jewel-toned cushions or a sisal rug to add texture without clashing.
