Description

Gold was highly prized by the Ancient Egyptians and became a huge part of their culture. They believed that the sun god Ra’s body was made out of the precious metal, which they used to make everything from jewellery to statues. Given the abundance of gold leaf featured in this piece, it felt appropriate to name it after the pharaoh the Sphinx was modelled on. With a beautiful, contrasting black exterior, you’ll be pleased to learn that you don’t have to answer any riddles correctly in order to bring this coffee table home.

Our Stylist Says

I love this piece because of its bold, modern aesthetic and the luxurious touch of gold inside the base, which adds a sense of warmth and sophistication. It works particularly well in contemporary or eclectic interiors that balance dark tones with metallic accents. To style this coffee table, consider placing a few carefully selected accessories such as ceramic vases, coffee table books, or a small tray for organisation. Its sturdy wood construction makes it practical for everyday use, while the open base offers a light, airy feel, making it perfect for both larger living spaces and smaller apartments. Just be mindful of keeping some contrast or texture nearby to avoid it looking too heavy; pairing it with plush textiles or light-coloured colours can help balance the overall look.
