Drawing on the elaborate woodwork found in traditional Japanese architecture, the Katsura Side Table makes a statement wherever it's placed. Defined by its bold lines and painted finish, it can be styled with similar designs or pairs well with contrasting designs. Its petite silhouette makes it perfect for use as a bedside cabinet, with its two doors opening onto an indigo-painted interior with a removable and adjustable shelf. Due to the artisanal techniques and natural materials used, each piece will have individual characteristics that add to their charm.
I’m a fan of this Katsura side table for its simple frame and handcrafted lattice doors - the washed-grey finish on mango wood gives just enough texture without overpowering a room. It sits neatly alongside sofas or beds in Scandi, Japandi or coastal-inspired schemes, and the slim footprint means it works just as well in a snug hallway or guest bedroom. For styling, keep the top clutter-free with a small table lamp or sculptural vase, a couple of coffee-table books and a trailing plant to soften the straight lines. Inside, use woven baskets or fabric boxes to keep everyday bits organised yet easy to reach.
