Description

Our medium-sized Huckleberry Rug has a beautifully natural finish handwoven from jute on a kilim. Jute is a particularly hard-wearing material, making this the perfect floor covering for heavily used rooms. The origins of kilim rugs range from Balkan regions through to Northern Africa, which is what makes them complementary to so many design styles. Kilims differ from knotted rugs as they are interwoven from variously coloured wefts (horizontal yarns) and warps (vertical yarns) to create a flatwoven tapestry rug with no pile. It is this distinct weaving technique, in which the jute turns around the cotton base that give the Huckleberry its striped pattern. The underside of the Huckleberry has a reversed colour palette; it’s possible to flip the rug and use this lighter side, though the knots will be more visible giving it a more artisanal appearance.

Our Stylist Says

I love how the OKA Huckleberry Jute Rug adds a natural, textured element to many interior styles, especially those leaning towards casual, boho, or coastal decor. Its dark natural tones and striped pattern make it versatile, working well in both neutral and more colourful schemes. For styling, I’d suggest pairing it with wooden or wicker furniture to enhance its organic feel, or layering with softer textiles for a cosy touch. Practical tips include placing it in high-traffic areas like hallways or living rooms, as jute is durable but should be protected from excessive moisture. Keep it simple and let the rug bring warmth and character to your space.
