Description
The spherical turned legs of the Gwendolen are inspired by the popular bobbin furniture movement – otherwise known as spool furniture – of the late 17th century. This style had legs that were generally lathe-turned into ornamental shapes in order to make a feature of them. The padded top of the Gwendolen is upholstered in muted Dijon yellow linen, which enables it to be used as an extra seat as well as a surface. The bottom shelf features woven cane for added interest.

I’m a fan of this Dijon ottoman for its smart blend of turned ash legs and soft linen top, which feels both structured and welcoming. Its low, wide profile makes it ideal as a central coffee table in a relaxed living room or as extra seating in a snug snug; pair it with a woven tray for drinks or a stack of art books to ground the look.
It slots effortlessly into Scandi-inspired schemes, modern country or coastal interiors, thanks to its neutral tones and light wood. For styling, layer a jute rug underneath to pick up the under-shelf’s weave, add a couple of leather-bound volumes and a small plant for height. It also doubles as a handy ottoman by simply swapping the tray for a plump velvet cushion.
