Named after a remote Swedish village, the Gustavian-style Grista Wardrobe in Nordic grey is nothing short of a classic. With carved details above its doors, plus painted handles and drawer pulls – that open you up to its ample storage space – it lends a homely touch to all manner of rooms, including a guest bedroom in a period property.

I’m a fan of the Grista wardrobe’s soft grey finish and solid proportions - it sits equally well in Scandinavian, coastal or relaxed farmhouse schemes. The interior gives generous hanging space plus a deep drawer for folded pieces or linen, so it’s as practical as it is handsome. Style it with natural-fibre hangers, a low jute rug beneath and maybe a pair of woven baskets on top to add texture. Brass or aged-nickel hooks on the side for scarves and hats will lift the look, and a simple mirror opposite will help bounce light around a bedroom or dressing area.
