It's made from travertine; a type of limestone that features characterful marks and patterns that result from its organic formation in hot springs and limestone caves as well as from the imprints of plants within its surface. The nature of this material results in the Birling having individual characteristics and colouring from piece to piece that add to its charm and personality.
