Description
To create their Officina collection, the famous Bouroullec brothers used one of the oldest ironworking techniques: wrought iron. Their goal is to give a contemporary visual language to wrought iron furniture which is somewhat outdated. The raw appearance of wrought iron is deliberately preserved. The uneven, imperfect surface gives these items of furniture a special vibration, an artisanal flavour. By reflecting all the random marks left by the tools used to make it, these pieces add a new twist to the industrial style. The Officina candlestick is entirely made of varnished wrought iron. It displays a hybrid style, both refined and industrial, but nevertheless timeless. The Officina collection reflects the work of the Bouroullec brothers. For them, the role of designing is to reveal a knowledge of the material and the techniques applied: it awakens deeply buried emotions linked to the details on the object and its crafting, touching on the universal.
