Description

Design. Packed with charisma and charm, the Odisha Desk offers a classic design with a rustic twist and provides a stylish space for productivity. The boards are engineered from thinly sliced oak, presenting a delicate yet sturdy construction. Solid brass inlays, feet and drawer handles gracefully provide contrast to its rustic quality. The Odisha will look fantastic in both industrial or natural interior décor and will easily tie your workspace together.

Our Stylist Says

I love this side table for its blend of warm, natural timber with sleek metal detailing, making it versatile for both modern and contemporary interiors. It works particularly well in minimalist or Scandinavian spaces, where its understated charm can shine, but it’s also adaptable in more eclectic rooms. Practical styling tips include using it as a bedside table paired with simple bedding or as an accent piece next to a sofa, with a small lamp and books on top. The drawers add a practical touch, ideal for keeping everyday essentials close at hand, while its slim profile makes it perfect for smaller spaces or as a complement to larger statement pieces.

About Barker and Stonehouse

Founded in 1946, Barker and Stonehouse offer a diverse range of stylish and timeless pieces. From contemporary to traditional designs, Barker and Stonehouse brings sophistication and comfort to every room.

A Remarkable Journey

Born from the vision of two young RAF men, Charles Barker and Alex Stonehouse, Barker and Stonehouse emerged as a beacon of hope, infusing post-war Britain with a hint of glamour. Starting from a single store in Stockton on Tees, their entrepreneurial spirit led to rapid expansion, opening multiple stores across the region.

Their fast growth was fueled not only by their flair for business but also by their dedication to innovation. The business transformed over the years, adapting to the changing landscapes of retail, all while preserving its charm and values. By 2021, they marked an impressive 75 years in the industry, a testament to their enduring commitment to quality and customer service.

Sustainability at the Forefront

From the very start, Barker and Stonehouse has held a deep commitment to the environment. This devotion was showcased through initiatives such as the Trees4Trees Project, a reforestation effort in Indonesia.

Ensuring that for every tree used in their products, more than two were replanted, nearly 1.5 million trees have been restored under this initiative.

Their Knaresborough store, one of the greenest retail stores in the UK, further underscores their dedication to sustainable practices. As a cherry on top, by 2021, the company achieved the status of "Carbon Neutral Plus", making them a trailblazer in the furniture industry.

Innovative Spaces and Expanding Horizons

Over the decades, Barker and Stonehouse didn't just expand in number, but in the quality and innovation of their spaces. From opening their iconic store in Battersea, London, which beautifully preserved the characteristics of an old candle factory, to their latest state-of-the-art Gateshead store in 2023, every location tells a story.

They have also ventured into digital realms, ensuring a vast online presence and offering a wide range of products to customers all over the UK. Their partnerships, like the one with Fenwick in 2021, illustrate their adaptability and constant quest to reach new audiences.
